Woodhill Racing | CRS Breeze Up And Unbroken 2 Year Old Sale

Glen Kotzen is an enduringly successful trainer with an incredible eye for purchasing inexpensive horses that compete at the highest level – just recall the exploits of Big City Life, Eyes Wide Open, Gold Standard, Princess Victoria, Lady Windemere and Cousin Casey to name a few recent examples.

His private Woodhill Racing operation, out near Paarl, takes on a slightly different guise in prepping six potentially exciting young’uns to be unveiled on the 27 October at Hollywoodbets Durbanville in the Cape Racing Sales Breeze Up.

Lot 15, Life of Leisure, is a Gold Standard filly ex La Collossa. She is a dam of just two foals to race and both won. The three year old has won two from three starts with Dean Kannemeyer. The second dam, La Calima, threw Los Colmos, a speedy eight-time winner and direct family of sire Lomitas who is the sire of our very own Silvano.

Lot 19 is a Rafeef filly out of Lip Service. Second dam, Lyrical Linda, a fabulous race mare, was a prolific winner between 1400m and 2000m with her career best achieved when triumphing in the G1 Garden Province Stakes. Family of Lance who produced Equus champion Quid Pro Quo. For his part, Rafeef has already sired 20 SW’s from only 207 runners so this is an attractive mating.

Lunar Descent is a very good looking Captain of All colt out of Lunar Landing. There is plenty of speed on the page and he will go through the ring as Lot 21.

Alpha World follows soon after as Lot 24 One World colt ex Mon Cherie is a young mare and a three part sister to Mill Queen as stakes winner. Met victor, One World has made the headlines breaking the SA record for freshman sire with his oldest progeny 3YO’s. One Stripe, Lion Rampart and All Out For Six shone as juveniles last term.

Lot 29 is an unnamed colt by USA stallion, Declarationofpeace out of a speedy mare that Kotzen trained to win five races, Our Destiny who got beat a short head in the Fillies Guineas. This is a family he knows well, second dam, Plumosa, a seven-time winner, also passed through his expert hands.

Woodhill Racing’s action will be done by Lot 42 when the chestnut colt, Safe Travel by good value sire, Elusive Fort ex Sapsan who is a half-sister to stakes winner Rocket Countdown goes under auctioneer, Andrew Miller’s hammer. He can be checked out in stable D24.
