Lyle Hewitson has had another good season in Hong Kong, although perhaps a touch disappointing as he was unable to build on last season’s breakthrough season and is yet to be partnered with a big horse on the island (HKJC)

Lyle Hewitson has revealed he was offered a ride in the Hollywoodbets Durban July but had to turn it down because it falls on the same weekend as a meeting in Hong Kong.

The same will obviously apply to Luke Ferraris and Keagan de Melo.

There are only eight meetings left on the island this season, which ends with a Sunday meeting on July 14.

The three South African ex-pat jockeys have had solid seasons, if not memorable.

Hewitson had 50 wins last season and is on 35 this season, so will be hard-pressed to beat his record.

Ferraris is on 23 wins this season, so will be hard-pressed to pass the personal record 35 he rode last season.

De Melo has had 21 wins in his debut season.
