Gavin Lerena will be riding the useful Bridget Stidolph-trained Time Thief gelding Raffles in Zimbabwe’s biggest race, the Castle Tankard, at Borrowdale on Saturday.
Lerena has ridden at the Herare course before and is looking forward to the event.
Many other South African jockeys are involved, as the field at the bottom of the article attests too.
Raffles is capable of a strong finish and looks the one to beat.
Last year’s winner Ideal View is in the field, but Nathan Klink is not aboard and looks to have opted to ride Citrusdal.
