The Glen Kotzen-trained King Regent (Dynasty) is the joint-favourite for the R7.5 million WSB Gold Rush and this Gisela and Martin Wickens-owned gelding will run in the slot owned by ticket holder Sandy Arundel. 

 

There has been a flurry of deals made ahead of Saturday’s R7.5 million Gold Rush, to be run over 1600m at the WSB Met meeting at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

Nick Jonsson purchased two slots in the race from the incumbent ticket holders Maine Chance Farms and Playgate SA respectively, so he will be the slot owner for both of the horses he owns in the race, the Michael Roberts-trained See It Again and the Justin Snaith-trained Triple Time.

Dave The King, owned by Messrs L M Nestadt & G J Player & Ralphs Racing (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Miss K Ralphs), will run in the slot owned by ticket holder Klawervlei Stud.

Seeking The One, owned by Messrs P Barrett, J Chowles, R Kieswetter, G S Knowles & R M Sewgoolam & Mesdames G MacGregor & B A Moody, will run in the slot owned by ticket holder Brett Crawford, who also trains the horse.

The other Brett Crawford-trained runner, Champion Warrior, owned by Mr A Gujadhur, will run in the slot owned by ticket holder Central Route Trading.

Pas De Nom, owned by Khaya Stables, will run in the slot owned by ticket holder Laurence Wernars.

Hammies Hero, trained by Candice Bass-Robinson and owned by Greenacres Trust (Nom: Mr N M Shirtliff) and Bryn Ressell, will run in the slot owned by ticket holder Bass Racing and Ian Longmore.

Marsh Shirtliff will use his ticket for the Bass-Robinson-trained Max The Otter, whom he owns together with Messrs G P Lemke, B Riley & M J Shirtliff.

King Regent, owned by Gisela Burg and Martin Wickens, will run in the slot owned by ticket holder Sandy Arundel.

The Sean Tarry-trained Billy Spellbound, owned by Mesdames J P Gardner & Jane Truter & Messrs B G Gardner & K P Truter & Sean Tarry Racing (Pty) Ltd, will run in the slot owned jointly by Chris van Niekerk and Bernard Kantor.

Another of the Sean Tarry-trained runners Winter Greeting, owned by Pieter Graaff’s Lammerskraal Stud, runs in the slot owned jointly by Graaff and Ken Truter.

Lord William, owned by CD Mitchell and JE Mitchell, will run in the slot held by ticket holders Ridgemont Highlands.

The other ticket holders Suzette and Basie Viljoen, Rikesh Sewgoolam and Hollywoodbets all have their own horses running for them i.e. Royal Aussie, Time Fo Orchids and Asiye Phambili respectively, although the Viljoens part-own Royal Aussie with DA Squance and Dr. JA Warner.
