Tony Millard won the eight race on the Happy Valley card tonight with the Deep Field gelding Above All, ridden by Brazilian Ruan Maia, to register his 700th winner in Hong Kong.

This is Millard’s 23rd season on the island.

Lyle Hewitson rode another winner for Douglas Whyte so it was a memorable meeting all round for South African ex-pats. 

Frankie Lor Fu-chuen scored a treble at the meeting to move three clear of John Size at the top of the trainers’ championship. 

Lor was a former assistant to Size and was only granted his full trainers license in 2017/2018.
