We’re Jamming proved to be a shrewd purchase out of the Piet Steyn yard by Greg Bortz and Gina Goldsmith as he obliterated the field in today’s CTS R400,000 Cape Thoroughbred Farm Sale Race over 1200m at Kenilworth under Aldo Domeyer.

The now Justin Snaith-trained Duke Of Marmalade colt broke well from draw one and was then eased back to sit on the rail behind the pace-setter Epsom Girl, who was his former stable mate from the Steyn yard.

He showed outstanding cruising speed and when Domeyer switched him past the leader at the 300m mark it was soon race over.

He powered clear to win by 4,50 lengths from the Paul Reeves-trained Captain Of All filly Hear My Voice.

Another Captain Of All, the Brett Crawford-trained gelding Capitaine Maurice, clinched third.

There was a dead-heat for fourth between the Vaughan Marshall-trained Pomodoro colt Scalini and the Snaith-trained Ideal World filly Fur Baby.

We’re Jamming was bred by Ridgemont Highlands.

He is out of the Windrush mare Maidstone, who won once and who is a half-sister to Listed-placed Seven Veils (Rich Man’s Gold), who is the dam of the Grade 2 winner Sniper Shot.

We’re Jamming was bought for a bargain R15,000 at last year’s CTS Farm Yearling Sale.

The Steyn yard also bought Epsom Girl at that sale for R15,000 and she finished sixth today, having earlier won the Grade 3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery.

It is a sale that has also produced the like of Durban July and Met winner Kommetdieding, who was bought for R55,000.

The CTS Farm Yearling Sale takes place at Kenilworth racecourse on Sunday.
