Juvenile fillies going a bit further and all are open to improvement. Do It Again’s half sister by William Longsword, VIRGINIA SWEET, made an inconspicuous debut in the Western Cape but could relish the distance along with DEVILS AND DUST, who made a fair debut at this venue, but have both drawn wide and inexperience may catch these out. Highveld-based filly LADY GREENSLEEVES has had four starts and did make a bit of progress last time out. She could take full advantage. MINSTREL GALLERY needed her debut and could come on in leaps and bounds. First-timers timers to consider in this.
LIKETHECLAPPERS looks well placed in this. He found his debut distance too short but did make progress and should improve from that. However he has drawn wide. RAVENS SWORD has been improving with each racecourse visit and he too runs like the longer trip will be ideal. As a young horse he should not mind the switch from poly to turf. SPECIALLY SELECTED can score his overdue maiden win if enjoying the longer trip. He seems bred for it and runs like he will like a less frantic trip. ALPENHORN is holding form and would be deserving. More well bred first timers to watch here.
SEA MASTER could finally land a win at this venue. He found form last time and for a change has secured a decent barrier. But AL’S MY DADDY may not let anything get by after a courageous last win from the front. Another handy type, BANZAI PIPELINE, has a 4kg claim and that advantage could be enough to see him in the winner’s enclosure. He is holding form well. IDEAL ACT suddenly impressed on the poly after previously not showing and perhaps he is a better horse now matured. Needs to be taken seriously along with PAPA C, TIME TAKER and easy maiden winner SPY MASTER.
Nice race with Highveld, Cape and local form in the mix. TWICE GOLDEN wasn’t disgraced on the poly at Greyville last time. He is best at this venue and should be right there if the pace is on. Another that will enjoy a hot pace is GREAT AFFAIR who comes from well back. He has knocked at the door here and last time out made a fair Highveld debut for the bang-on-form Paul Peter yard. REX UNION enjoyed a sedate gallop to win his staying debut in the Cape. He can only improve and needs to be taken seriously. CHEWBACA is overdue and needs to be respected along with BILLY BAZOOKA (48,5kg).
IT’S ABOUT TIME was denied a short head last time and could confirm the strength of the run with a winning effort back in KwaZulu-Natal. Fellow Highveld raider MODERN MAGICIAN won a nice race second time out and is open to good improvement. But LUNARCAM is out to maintain his unbeaten record at this venue. He impressed last time and receives chunks of weight from IT’S ABOUT TIME. Could get close. FAUSTINO won well the last time he raced over this track and trip. He should be right there. HERECOMESTHERAIN isn’t too consistent but if he repeats his last run he can threaten.
SILVER OPERATOR was in top form in the Western Cape. He is best weighted on local debut and should be the one. However, along with others is prepping for bigger races. TRISTFUL would be deserving. He has run many a good race and looked like picking up a big race at one stage but interestingly he has yet to win away from Greyville. GENTLEMAN’S WAGER’s last run is best ignored. He is betting coming from off the pace and having won a feature the last time at this track, is not one to take lightly. Talented SILVANO’S TIMER could be anything now but along with BABY SHOOZ is racing after quite a break.
As competitive as a handicap can get. CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT showed form last time and could be coming back to best. He has drawn well and if not minding the drop in trip could give of his best. TRADE WAR is a lot better than his last start which was his first on the poly. He is one from one over the track and trip and looks well placed in this handicap. QUANT MASTER loves this track and has been knocking at the door. If allowed to skip along in front he could be hard to peg back at the business end. MOUNT GREYLOCK and JOSHUA HOTSNAKE seem capable of better. GUNSMOKE is holding form. More in it.
Tough race to end. THE TINKERMAN improved on his Work Riders’ race second-place finish with a convincing win and the form has worked out well. If he takes to Hollywoodbets Scottsville he could be a big player again. BERNIE’S DREAM ran a nice race last time, finishing ahead of well-backed BOTZ and looks a strong contender receiving weight from THE TINKERMAN. BOTZ needed that run and could make marked improvement. CAPE EAGLE was kept on the boil on the poly and is back on the track at which he impressed. He could make good strides this time. FINAL DESTINY is one of many who can upset.
