Brett Crawford trained Masked Vigilante (Vercingetorix) overcame the worst draw to finish strongly and take the R200,000 GG Gaming Klawervlei Farm Sale Graduate race at Durbanville.

Persistance was drawn next to the eventual winner on the wide outside but got across to lead at a decent tempo, with Masked Vigilante following him through to settle in third. Zampaq split them, and these three filled the first three positions throughout.

The field quickly spread out as a result of the true tempo, unsurprisingly given so many first timers.

Persistance clearly had the better of Zampaq 200m out, but Masked Vigilante unleashed a withering burst down the centre under a patient Greg Cheyne ride, and sailed on by to win going away by two lengths.

Zampaq just held third from a fast finishing Oh So Squishy and Karen Blixen was fifth another short head away.

Masked Vigilante was the only previous winner in the race, and his generous starting price  of  7-2 was  mainly due to his distant draw.
