THE Mauritius Turf Club Stewards last week suspended South African jockeys Raymond Danielson and Brandon Lerena for allegedly socialising with a licensed bookmaker on a boat in Mauritius.

Muzi Yeni, another local rider seen partying on the same boat, was in trouble with the MTC Whatsapp screenshots allegedly displaying a conversation between Muzi Yeni Q and another person.

South African Justin Vermaak, the only eye-witness back in the country after being on the boat with the jockeys, tells his exclusive story in today’s Turf Talk Newsletter.

  1. Thank you Justin for standing up for them ! It’s disgraceful how racing in South Africa is , these jockeys represent South African racing; Brandon has a 40% strike rate there , I didn’t hear or see one article of how well he’s doing, before this.
