MIKE de Kock’s Gr3 Tony Ruffel Stakes winner Suyoof (AUS, photo), raced into a good second on his Dubai debut a fortnight ago – he’s fancied for another decent showing in a turf handicap over 1400m (Race 7) at Meydan tonight.

Suyoof (Jim Crowley) stayed on from midfield in a handicap over this course and distance when beaten 1.5-lenghts by Bravo Zolo last time and meets his conqueror on 2kg better terms, which could be enough to turn the tables.

De Kock said yesterday: “I’d be confident if this was a mile, because 1400m is just too sharp for Suyoof, but we’re running out of choices this Carnival. He is very well, he should run a good race.”

The stable’s Mubtaahij makes his return to the track in the Gr2 Curlin Stakes over 2000m on dirt in preparation for the Dubai World Cup. “He is well short of his best,” De Kock said.
