Equus horse-of-the year Summer Pudding will not run in the Cape Town Met on January 30. Or the Majorca Stakes for that matter.

For she is on a float back to Gauteng, and is due to arrive later this morning, trainer Paul Peter revealed.

“It’s unfortunate, but she was coughing and had mucus after Saturday, and with having to go on antibiotics it would have been a rush job to get her ready for three weeks time. She’s far too valuable to do something like that.

“But we are fighters and will be coming back to Cape Town to fight again one day. I can’t speak highly enough of the help Eric Sands has given me.”

(Summer Pudding and Heart Stwings – who is also on the float – both boarded with Mr Sands while in Cape Town)
