THIS year’s Cape Breeders auction was a resounding success, raising R2,161,100. The money raised will be put towards causes such as African Horse Sickness, vaccinations, groom education programmes etc. A huge benefit to the industry, for breeders especially.

Funds from the auction also allow Cape Breeders’ Club to provide members with access to the very popular TrueNicks and G1 Goldmine for mating assistance.

“If you haven’t already finalised your bookings, time is fast running out as books are filled and closed,” writes bloodstock agent John Freeman in his newsletter. Freeman Stallions manages sires owned by syndicates who donated services for auction.

Dynasty’s service sold for a mammoth R390k and Captain Al fetched R340k. Other sires who participated were Pathfork – R25k, Querari – R35k and What A Winter – R40k.
