TRAINER Justin Snaith is making world headlines after his Gr1 treble on Sun Met Day last Saturday.

Snaith has shot up an astronomical 28 points in the TRC World Trainers’ Ranking this week,  up 49 positions to Number 27 in the world, which also makes him South Africa’s top trainer on the log ahead of Sean Tarry, who is also up a few places to #32. Brett Crawford is just outside the Top 50 n #51.

Anton Marcus (#17) is the only South African jockey in the Top 50, but the Cape’s recent sensation Grant van Niekerk has improved a massive 48 positions from 116 to 68 on the log.

Gaynor Rupert and Drakenstein Stud’s good recent run sees them move up 28 positions to Number on the World Log for owner, a position likely to improve in coming months as Drakenstein takes its place among the world’s elite owners.

The deceased Captain Al (22) and Dynasty (25) are South Africa’s leaders on the Stallions Log, ahead of established international sires like More Than Ready and Invincible Spirit.

The TRC Global Rankings are a measure of an individual’s level of achievement over a rolling three-year period.

They are based not on prize money the individuals’ representatives have won but on the quality of the performances those runners have put up in Group and Graded races. There are about 1,450 qualifying races around the world every year.
