Justin Snaith ran 1-2-3 in the listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes at Kenilworth. But it was rank outsider Really Royal (R42.90 on the tote) who took the spoils by a short head!

Louis Mxothwa has been in prime form lately, and after coming from well of the pace and hitting the front 200m out, he just kept the full sister to stallion William Longsword rolling to hold off faster finishing Rain In Newmarket under Richard Fourie, who also came from off them, by a short head.

La Quinta had raced handy and stayed on for third to complete a Snaith trifecta that paid R2919.

Strong favourite Chat Ching (10-11) failed to fire and trailed in a dismal seventh.

Really Royal doesn’t have the easiest temperament, a fact Snaith alluded to in the interview.

“I’ve never been put on the ground more by any horse than by this filly. She’s become very special to me, and this is the biggest moment in my career in terms of horsemanship,” commented the delighted conditioner.
