As expected Grade 3 Cape Classic winner Seeking The Stars was far too good in the R1,25 million De Grendel CTS Ready-To-Run Stakes over 1400m at Kenilworth.
Vaughan Marshall’s Vercingetorix colt took it up just after the start, followed by Sean Tarry raider Willow Express and fellow Marshall inmate Spiritual Wind.
And he kicked clear at the top of the straight, going further and further away to defeat the running on filly Lemon Delight by a full 5,5 lengths.
Willow Express stayed on for third, while proving absolutely no match for the impressive winner.
He covered the 1400m in a quick 84,54 seconds, and bagged the bumper R640,000 first prize.
Marshall confirmed that underrated Louis Mxothwa would again partner the colt in the coming Cape Guineas.
