SEAN Tarry, in line for his second National Trainers’ Title, racked up another milestone when reaching a likely record of 200 winners for the season on Saturday at Greyville when Lady Of Kildare won the Listed Off To Stud Stakes over 1600m on the polytrack. He saddled three more winners at Turffontein on Sunday to take his tally for the season to 203.

At Greyville, Chris van Niekerk’s Lady Of Kildare prevailed under a polished ride from Anthony Delpech, beating stablemate Enchanted Silk by 1,75 lengths. Lady Of Kildare, a Klawervlei Stud-bred five-year-old mare by Captain Al, has now won half of her eight starts on the Greyville poly.

Tarry said on Monday: “We didn’t chase 200 winners in a single season, but things have gone wonderfully well this term and it became a realistic target in the last few weeks.”

With several of his personal goals achieved, Tarry said that his future plans will centre around keeping his stable’s success at this high level. “We have a big business, a big operation and to keep it going one needs constant focus and dedication.  I have a great team, I know what I have to do and my commitment will stay the same. It’s about positive momentum, maintaining it.”

He said about Off To War: “She will be going to stud soon, we may give her one more run.”
