FORMER champion trainer Sean Tarry on Sunday joined a unique band in the world of horseracing by notching up his 2,000th winner.
Tarry’s milestone success came in Race 9 over 1600m, in which Lyle Hewiston booted home the stable’s Flash Burn (37-10) to an impressive 3.70-length win in Maiden company.
“I am delighted to join just a handful of trainers who have saddled 2000 winners. All credit to my team for their hard work and for delivering consistent results,” said Tarry.
In winning, Flash Burn looked a promising sort in the making and Tarry said: “We expected him to go close first time out and he was a bit disappointing, I was wondering if I’d made the wrong assessment of him, but he proved us right today.”
Flash Burn is owned by Haras De Saint Paint Syndicate, of which Mr A Putsch is the nomninee. “Mr Putsch is a new owner in the yard, his horses were brought in by John Slade.”
Hewitson said: “I am glad to be a part of this moment, having ridden a few hundred winners for the stable.”
