THE Bloodstock South Africa sold Salimah made an eye catching debut when victorious at Scottsville on Sunday.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Salimah, one of five winners on the day for birthday boy Dennis Drier, strolled home to win first time out by three and three quarter lengths over 1000m in the style of a filly going places!
The 3yo, one of two winners on the card for owners Hartley SA (Pty) Ltd (nominee Mr Peter Gibson) (they are also part-owners in Constantine who landed the score in Sunday’s sixth race), was a R450 000 purchase from the 2016 National Yearling Sale.
Salimah, a daughter of former champion sire Trippi, is the eighth winner produced by the unplaced Doyoun mare Zanakiya.
She is a full-sister to G1 SA Nursery runner up Ziparana and a half-sister to G3 UAE 2000 Guineas runner up Zanzamar, himself an R800 000 buy from the 2009 National Yearling Sale.
The next BSA auction scheduled to take place is the Johannesburg Mixed Sale, which has been pencilled in for Wednesday, the 15th of November.
