2016 Gr1 Mercury Sprint winner Red Ray has only had one juvenile run so far.

And after finishing third on debut, Global Glory took the plaudits in the opener at Greyville today – a Maiden Juvenile over 1000m.

He did it the hard way – but despite racing green and very wide on the bend the colt  finished strongly down the middle of the track to win by a length and a quarter.

Global Glory runs in the colours of part owners Warren and Candiese Lenferma, and it was a first win for their blue and white silks as well.

Both work on course as presenter and photographer respectively, and were there to lead him in. Which may well be the only lead-in photo with owners taken country wide this January!

The colt was bred by Waterford Stud, and is trained by Mike Miller, who knows a thing about training juvenile winners, with Stuart Randolph in the irons.

Red Ray stands at Birch Bros’ Vogel Vlei Stud.
