THE last few offspring of deceased stallion Tiger Ridge will be sold at the remaining bloodstock auctions of 2016 and Wilgerbosdrift Stud has consigned four of them to Saturday’s CTS August Two-Year-Old Sale.

“The last of the last Tiger Ridge foals are now being sold,” said Wilgerbosdrift’s Manager Gail Bulpitt of the farm’s former resident, who was Champion first and second season stallion in South Africa before his death in 2013.

There is an old racing adage that the last crop of a deceased sire produces at least one champion, which bodes well for the quartet on offer here.

Lot 23 is a Tiger Ridge filly from the mare Noble Destiny, who has produced nine winners from ten foals to race including Dennis Drier’s promising miler, New Hampshire. She’s named Crown Charka.

Photocopy (Lot 9) is a colt by Tiger Ridge from Let’s Try Again (Spend A Buck), whose first four foals included the smart three-time winner Bay Of Bengal.

Glamglow (Lot 12), is a first foal – sired by the Tiger from Lizzie Arden (Right Approach), who won three times and was Gr3 placed.

Then there is Lot 59, Pumeza, a daughter of Tiger Ridge and Belcanto (by Goldkeeper), who hails from an older family of decent sprinter-milers including New Identity and Allure.

“They’re all nice, in fact we have a decent all-round draft at this sale,” commented Bulpitt.

She is quite fond of Emma Peel  (Lot 58), a daughter of Ideal World and the Danehill Dancer mare, Beautiful Muriel. “Emma Peel was too immature for the National Sale, she’s a bit on the small side being a first foal, but she’s furnishing now, neat and correct.”

Bulpitt said of Lot 25, Pixel, a daughter of Jay Peg and Nunbridled (Unbridled):  “On looks, she’s probably the most outstanding. Her dam has produced a few disappointing offspring, but to be honest this is the first of her fillies with decent legs so we have hopes she can go places.”

In total, 13 Wilgerbosdrift two-year-olds will pass through the Durbanville ring at the sale, that starts at 6pm.
