TRAINER Mike Azzie is considering the Gr2 Green Point Stakes over 1600m at Kenilworth on Saturday, 3 December, as a preparation run for Triple Crown winner Abashiri, who is being aimed at the 2017 Queen’s Plate and the Sun Met.

Azzie said he wanted Abashiri to have a good look at the left-handed track. “At this stage he is going to run and Anthony Delpech will take the ride. We’d like him to come on from the run, he has never raced on a left-handed bend before.”

Delpech has also been booked to ride Querari Falcon for Azzie on the same day  in the Gr1 World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas.

Sean Tarry, meanwhile, is also considering the Green Point Stakes and the Queen’s Plate as routes into the Sun Met for champion miler Legal Eagle.

“It’s not definite but if Legal Eagle does run in the Green Point, he will stay in Cape Town for the L’Ormarin’s Queen’s Plate and the Sun Met,” Tarry said.
