After recently being quoted that his Vodacom July entries had an ‘impossible task’ at the weights, Justin Snaith supplemented Nexus into the big one this morning.

So presumably that means that he thinks the son of Dynasty has a better shout with a mere 53kg as things stand.

To be honest it is surprising he wasn’t nominated in the first place. He provided one of the most thrilling moments of the Cape Summer last December when getting up from a hopeless position in the G2 Peninsula Handicap to notch his maiden Graded win.

Under one of the best rides of Piere Strydom’s long career, it has to be said, but 53kg is pushing it for the former champion these days.

“He’s been flying at home, so he deserves to take his place,” commented Snaith this afternoon, before confirming that Nexus would run in the G3 Cup Trial on 12 June leading into the July.
