VISITORS to the TBA complex at Gosforth Park for next week’s BloodStock SA National Yearling Sale can look forward to some exciting changes to the venue. BSA today also published a programmed of events leading to the three-day sale, that starts at 11.30 next Tuesday, 24 April.
Gary Grant of BSA told this morning: “We are trying to make our venue as welcoming as possible. We want all visitors to have an entertaining time in good surroundings and we’ve already had compliments from early visitors.”
Grant said that changes have been made to the reception area, while the flow of seating and the lighting has been improved. A new split screen will allow for sales information to be shared with applicable videos shown from time to time.”
A number of official and social events will precede the Sale, starting with the TBA of SA AGM this Friday, 20 April, at 17.00 at Emperors Palace, followed by the Gr Breeders Awards Function at 17.30. “Invitations for the AGM were sent out; as for the awards all breeders who have bred a Gr1 winner since our last AGM will qualify.”
On Saturday at 6pm all buyers, vendors and racing friends are welcome to attend a Braai on the Deck near the Lapa inside the TBA Complex. Grant said: “We’ll have a super band in attendance, a five-man outfit called “Afritude”, they’re very good. We’d like our buyers and vendors to socialise and interact in a nice environment and to ignite old friendships.
“Last year we had polarisation and negativity, the atmosphere was tense. We’d like to return to the old, traditional atmosphere that marked all the great auctions at this venue.”
The Saturday social event will be followed by a more formal social Cocktail Party to be held at Emperors Palace on Sunday evening at 18.30. “This will be to celebrate our association with Emperors Palace,” said Grant.
Yearlings can be viewed at the Complex from today – most of the horses have arrived and are being checked into their respective stables.
“All is on track, we’ve already received a number of credit applications and we’re looking forward to the Sale,” Grant concluded.
