SATURDAY’S  Cox  Plate  (Gr1,  2040m)  runner-up  Hartnell  (photo) heads  the  32  horses  to   have   gone   forward   for   Tuesday   week’s   Melbourne  Cup  (Gr1,  3200m),  with  all  of  the  main  contenders  standing  their  ground  at  the  second  acceptance  stage  on Monday.

The  John  O’Shea-trained   Hartnell,   who   finished   eight   lengths  behind  Winx  in  Saturday’s  Cox  Plate,  is  one  of  seven  Godolphin-owned  horses  to  also  go  forward.  He  is  joined  by  his  stablemate  Tally and  the  Charlie  Appleby-trained   trio,   the   Caulfield   Cup   (Gr 1,  2400m)   runner-up   Scottish  and  Geelong  Cup  (Gr 3,  2400m)  first  and  third,  Qewy  and  Oceanographer.

While Saeed Bin Suroor has entered the  Middleton  Stakes  (Gr 2,  1m2.5f)  winner  Beautiful  Romance  and  the  Group  Three  winner  Secret  Number, who will both be having their first starts in Australia. Other notable entries include Jameka, who took the Caulfield Cup and Exospheric,  who ran third behind her in that race.  – ANZ Bloodstock News.
