JOAO will be back riding in Hong Kong after being granted a six-month permit by the Jockey Club.
The HKJC licensing committee confirmed the new arrangement on Saturday morning, which will see Moreira able to ride as stable jockey for John Size from December 9 and continue through to June 9.
While the six-month period which Size applied for was granted, subject to a satisfactory retainership agreement and medical examination, the expectation is Moreira will be able to secure a full Jockey Club licence after the initial six-month period.
Moreira left Hong Kong at the end of last season to ride in Japan but was unable to secure a Japan Racing Association licence after failing the written exam.
