THERE’s not a lot of sunshine around at Newmarket, UK, at the moment, but Light The Lights took an opportunity to catch some of it at Mary Slack’s Abington Place on Monday afternoon.
Light the Lights, Noah From Goa and Megnaas are three South African exports on their way to Dubai for the 2017 Carnival. They travelled from the quarantine facility in Mauritius recently (along with Alec Laird’s Smart Call) and will be based at Newmarket for another three months.
Light The Lights, formerly trained by Glen Kotzen, has raced 19 times for 3 wins and 7 places and looks like the type of horse that can do well in Dubai next season. He left South Africa after having won the Gr3 Peninsula Handicap and finishing fourth to Smart Call in the 2016 Gr1 J&B Met.
Form Bloodstock’s Jehan Malherbe commented: “He’s a late maturing horse, on the up. His last two runs were his best. He should be decent handicapper in Dubai through the carnival in 2017.”
Make a note of that. He does look like a promising horse.
