LEGAL Eagle, who won the Gr2 R400,000 World Sports Betting Green Point Stakes over 1600m race last year before going on to top honours in the Queen’s Plate, is Betting World’s 9-10 favourite for this year’s renewal, with Edict Of Nantes next on offer at 33-10.
Edict Of Nantes won both the Investec Cape Derby and the Daily News 2000 last season before finishing third in the Vodacom Durban July. He won his seasonal debut, beating Sail South in a 1400m Pinnacle race this month.
Trainer Brett Crawford has also entered his seasoned star Captain America and Sail South, himself a Gr1 winner late last season.
Gold Standard, who finished fourth in this year’s Sun Met and showed promise in his only run since – in the 1400m Matchem Stakes last month – looks good value at 7-1.
Betting World’s betting for the R400,000 Green Point Stakes (Grade 2) over 1600m: 9-10 Legal Eagle; 33-10 Edict Of Nantes; 6-1 Captain America; 7-1 Sail South, Gold Standard; 12-1 Our Mate Art; 16-1 Copper Force.
