EFFORTS are being made to encourage diversity in the racehorse breeding industry, seen as a source of untapped income for previously disadvantaged groups.
Bosco Sports Development was appointed by the department of Tourism in Kimberley – they will be hosting a race day at Flaming Park on 5 August to create awareness of horse racing in the city and the greater Northern Cape, to hopefully attract out-of-towners to this day.
“This race meeting will be held on a Saturday – the same day as RA Flamingo Mile and RA Diamond Stayers on 5th August and a day after the Flamingo Park Awards Function. They want to grow it to become their July equivalent in Kimberley,” said Larry Wainstein of the Racing Association.
