“THE crowds go wild here in Mauritius, they shout like crazy, including the kids,” said jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe after enjoying his first meeting at Champ De Mars in Mauritius last Saturday.

“It’s a mind-blowing experience, there are kids who come to the track in the silks of their favourite jockeys or horses, they love it,” he said.

Fayd’Herbe hit the ground running with three winners, two thirds and a fourth from six ridesĀ  for the stable of Gilbert Rousset, who retains him on an open contract.

After places on Lietuva (Race 2) and New Star (Race 3), he booted home a quick double on Night In Seattle (Race 4) and Recall To Life Race 5), followed by another place on Dawn Raid (Race 7) and a good win on The Deacon (Race 8) to end the day on a high note.

“I’m riding for a powerful stable and I think we’ll have a very good season,” Fayd’Herbe said.
