ON their way to South Africa on Sunday, flying from the UK were Hayley Turner, Frankie Dettori, Robert Havlin and Fergus Sweeney, four of six members of the International Jockeys Team to take on South Africa in two tests this weekend – Friday at Fairview and Sunday at Turffontein. Aurelian Lemaitre and Pat Cosgrave are on later flights this week.

Englishman Havlin was on the champers early – looks like he’s expecting an enjoyable week in South Africa and he has every reason to, having been a member of last year’s team and knowing how royally they are treated!

The Internationals have only won the series twice in the last ten years and will be hoping for the greater number of quality mounts from the draw this year.

The South South Africa team is captained by S’manga Khumalo and includes Aldo Domeyer, Anthony Delpech, Muzi Yeni, Gavin Lerena and Grant van Niekerk.

The Jockeys’ International is sponsored by Air Mauritius.
