RACE 1: 6 VINODH’S BOY 3 SOWETO HALL 1 MACALLAN 5 BATTLE OF STIRLING
Preview: VINODH’S BOY (6) has improved with every outing and looks primed for this. SOWETO HALL (3) was a distant third last run but with a better draw in weaker company and a 4kg claimer up he should be competitive. MACALLAN (1) is a long-time battler but meets a modest field here and should feature prominently. BATTLE OF STIRLING (5) has been disappointing but a chance of pilot could see him improve. (Andrew Harrison: 6-3-1-5).
RACE 2: 5 KING CYRUS 7 STAR OVER CAPETOWN 9 LORD CARO 10 WHAT YOU WANT
Preview: Weak field. KING CYRUS (5) was narrowly beaten over course and distance when tried in blinkers and has a strong chance of going one better in this company. STAR OVER CAPETOWN (7) was much improved last run when back in cheek pieces. Back to a sprint and can feature. LORD CARO (9) is a long-time battler but has not been far back of late and must have a decent chance in this line-up. WHAT YOU WANT (10) is a nicely bred first timer and one to watch in the betting. (Andrew Harrison: 5-7-9-10).
RACE 3: 6 THEATRICAL MOMENT 4 DANCING SWORD 8 CATAYST 5 CORSAGE
Preview: THEATRICAL MOMENT (6) made no show in the soft last outing. Consistent recent form on this surface and has a strong chance in this line-up. DANCING SWORD (4) was narrowly beaten on the poly at her penultimate start. She may prefer this surface. CATALYST (8) has shown some recent improvement. In a weak field and can feature prominently. CORSAGE (5) is way better than recent efforts. No show in the soft last run and can do better in this line-up.
RACE 4: 9 NAVARINO BAY 4 HATTON HALL 8 BRUSH BACK 2 SONJADOR
Preview: NAVARINO BAY (9) was much improved in blinkers last run and should enjoy the extra in another modest field. HATTON HALL (4) is a giant of a horse and does need strong handling. He gets the right rider aboard and will have a strong chance. BRUSH BACK (8) was much improved when trying a little further at his second start. May much prefer this trip and one to watch. SONJADOR (2) has been consistent of late and did show some improvement in first time blinkers. (Andrew Harrison: 9-4-8-2).
RACE 5: 5 ALRAUNE 10 NOBE PRINCESS 3 SANS DANCER 4 PURPLE AND GOLD
Preview: Wide open handicap. ALRAUNE (5) showed signs of coming to hand with a good sprint last up. She can do better this trip from a good draw. Stable companion NOBLE PRINCESS (10) has a wide draw, not ideal in a competitive race, but has been in good form of late. Yeni stays aboard which is a plus. SAN’S DANCER (3) has been consistent of late and has her second run after a short break. PURPLE AND GOLD (4) improved when taking on slightly weaker last outing. She should be competitive in this line-up. (Andrew Harrison: 5-10-3-4).
RACE 6: 4 MAITLAND MAGIC 1 RUNNING FREELY 10 PRESUMPTUOUS 8 COOL RUNNINGS
Preview: MAITLAND MAGIC (4) has come good in blinkers for his new stable. Fair last effort to stronger. RUNNING FREELY (1) has made steady recent improvement over shorter. Best of the draw here and extra furlong should suit. PRESUMPTUOUS (10) has a wide draw but did improved last run over course and distance. Form stable and not out of it. COOL RUNNINGS (8) took advantage of a drop in class and a return to the poly to win last start. Lightly raced and can go in again. (Andrew Harrison: 4-1-10-8).
RACE 7: 5 ALL THE WAY UP 11 TROMSO 7 TWO OF US 8 SPIRIT OF MY FATE
Preview: Difficult. ALL THE WAY UP (5) has been trying further of late but can do much better this trip. Needed attest and at best will go close. TROMSO (11) took on a useful Novice field last start. He does not have the best of draws but the extra will suit. TWO OF US (7) has been knocking at the door. Narrowly beaten in first time blinkers and has a strong chance of going one better. SPIRIT OF MY FATE (8) was a recent maiden winner over course and distance and does show some ability. Can make further improvement. (Andrew Harrison: 5-11-7-8).
RACE 8: 6 PURPLE POWERHOUSE 2 PACIFIC WINTER 11 GREAT GUY 1 TREADING WATER
Preview: Another difficult race. PURPLE POWERHOUSE (6) has been narrowly beaten over a furlong shorter on this track. He may well enjoy the extra here and should put in a bold effort. PACIFIC WINTER (2) showed tremendous pace after being taken out at the start of a work riders race. He should improve on that showing from a good draw. GREAT GUY (11) has a difficult draw but has been close-up to slightly stronger of late. Marcus takes over from an apprentice. TREADING WATER (1) made sudden improvement last run with the blinkers removed. He has the best of the draw here and can go one better. (Andrew Harrison: 6-2-1-11).
RACE 9: 6 VIHZOE’S MAGIC 4 AALSMEER 1 UMZINDUZI 10 YAAS
Preview: Wide open. VIHZOE’S MAGIC (6) is a quick filly but battled in the soft on the Scottsville turf last run. Back on the poly she can do much better. (4) AALSMEER (2) has been trying further and has her third start for her new stable. She has taken a big drop in the ratings and should be competitive. UMZINDUZI (1) was a comfortable maiden winner over course and distance last start. She did not get a rise in the merit ratings which suggests that she is in her place. YAAS (10) has drawn wide and is at her best over shorter. However, she is always game. (Andrew Harrison: 6-2-1-10).
