After the disappointment of passing in on the first day of the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the Snitzel colt out of dual South African champion Carry On Alice eventually sold to Mick Price Racing and ARJB for $700,000 during the second day of trade.
Described by many judges as a fine specimen of his multiple Champion sire, the Arrowfield Stud-consigned Lot 236 is the first foal of his outstanding dam Carry On Alice.
The latter is one of just a handful of elite mares to win G1 races at two, three, four and five and ranked among the best of her age in South Africa for four years running.
One of 24 G1 winners, and more than 100 stakes winners, sired by Klawervlei Stud’s deceased champion sire Captain Al (also responsible for recent South African Triple Crown winner Malmoos), Carry On Alice captured the the G1 SA Nursery at two, the G1 South African Fillies Sprint the following season, the G1 Computaform Sprint at four, and both the G1 Betting World Cape Flying Championship and G1 South African Fillies Sprint during her final campaign.
Carry On Alice, South Africa’s Champion Sprinter and Older Filly/Mare of 2016-2017, was placed in a further seven G1 races, and won or placed in a total of 17 graded stakes races.
The brilliant bay, one of Captain Al’s very best daughters, is one of just foals produced by G2 The Debutante winner and G1 Paddock Stakes runner up Carry On Katie, herself a daughter of multiple champion South African sire Western Winter.
