2 VINODH’S BOY 5 QUE ES VAR 10 DUCHESSOFCORNWALL 3 CLETO
Preview: VINODH’S BOY (2) comes from a stable that is a little quiet but that should change here and he rates the horse to beat. QUE ES VAR (5) has been rested and changed stables. He has shown some fair Cape form and can make a winning local debut although his trainer feels that he will need the outing. DUCHESSOF CORNWALL (10) takes on males and has drawn widest but is seldom too far back and should feature prominently. CLETO (3) makes his poly debut after a disappointing effort in blinkers last time out. He can do better here. (Andrew Harrison: 2-5-10-3).
3 WAVE CREST 12 PACIFIC FATE 2 NEVERENDING LOVE 11 POLYNIECES
Preview: Poor maiden field. WAVE CREST (3) has made some recent improvement and looks fully capable in this line-up. PACIFIC FATE (12) has the worst of the draw but did well from a similar gate last time out. She looks ready to feature. NEVERENDING LOVE (2) disappointed last run but can do better this trip. POLYNIECES (11) returns from a lengthy break and according to her trainer may need this and further. However, this is a poor field and she is blinkered for the first time. (Andrew Harrison: 3-12-2-11).
7 FLYING PETER 2 MR PIGALLE 8 MONTANA SKY 11 BLUE PLANET
Preview: Tricky maiden. FLYING PETER (7) has only once missed a cheque in five starts. He steps up to what could be a more suitable trip judged in pedigree and should feature prominently. MR PIGALLE (2) is lightly raced but improved nicely second run for his new stable and can make the required improvement to be a big factor. MONTANA SKY (8) has been rested but had consistent form before and goes well on the poly. BLUE PLANET (11) was well beaten third in his sprint debut but he should much prefer this trip.
(Andrew Harrison: 7-2-8-11).
Preview: Weak handicap. AVENIR (5) may have found his last run too short. Best recent effort has been over course and distance. A WHOLE NEW WORLD (8) has come on nicely since his maiden win. A repeat of his last effort should see him go close to winning. JOLLY BOY (3) could be the surprise package. Still a maiden with modest form, he only has 52kg to shoulder and steps up to what may be a more suitable trip. STRAIGHT UP (6) is way better than his last effort. He will improve on that showing. (Andrew Harrison: 5-8-3-6).
9 TIGER TANK 12 FIREONTHETRACK 7 ORIGAMI 4 COOL APACHE
Preview: Weak handicap field. TIGER TANK (9) has made good improvement since changing stables. He stays this trip well and should be thereabouts again. FIREONTHETRACK (12) does not have the best draws but only now appears to be maturing and must have a bright chance in this line-up. ORIGAMI (7) was a recent maiden winner but has come to hand nicely. He makes his poly debut. COOL APACHE (4) takes on males but stays the trip well. Blinkers were a failed experiment at her penultimate start and she was back to form next run. (Andrew Harrison: 9-12-7-4).
7 PARKTOWN 6 HAMMAM 5 PHIL’S POWER 12 PRECIOUS LOVE
Preview: Another difficult lowly handicap. PARKTOWN (7) has been rested and the stable is a little flat. However, he has been up against stronger in the Cape and should feature prominently in this line-up. HAMMAM (6) has been taking on stronger of late. He must have a big chance in this company. PHIL’S POWER (5) has been knocking at the door for some time now. Due a change of fortune. PRECIOUS LOVE (12) ran a cracker behind Duran last start. He has the worst of the draw but can finish in the money. THERAVADA (9) is back to a sprint but has shown some recent improvement over further. (Andrew Harrison: 7-6-5-12).
4 CALGARY 6 BRAVO ZULU 2 PACIFIC WINTER 10 ROY’S MAGIC
Preview: CALGARY (4) arrived with promising PE form but was a beaten favourite in his local debut. He seems much better than that and may be worth a second chance. BRAVO ZULU (6) is always game and although taking on stronger than what he has been up against of late, he has a light weight. PACIFIC WINTER (2) has shown some recent improvement in blinkers. From a good draw he can feature prominently. ROY’S MAGIC (10) is always dangerous. He gets a stronger rider aboard and goes well this course and distance. (Andrew Harrison: 4-6-2-10).
7 SHE’S A DREAM 8 CAPRICCIO 10 COLOUR OF LIGHT 5 RACHEL
Preview: SHE’S A DREAM (7) takes a big drop in class and has improved in blinkers. Of concern is that before the blinkers went on her poly form was not great. If she takes to the surface, she could be hard to beat. CAPRICCIO (8) has put in two smart efforts since her maiden win. She is down in trip but should still run a big race. COLOUR OF LIGHT (10) tends to lack extra when it matters but is never far back and is due a change of fortune. RACHEL (5) is holding form well and looks to be over her optimum trip.
(Andrew Harrison: 7-8-10-5).
