FIRST entries have revealed that the Grade 1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge over 1600m at Greyville on 8 June is another ‘race of the season’ contender.

Defending champion Undercover Agent, Sun Met winner Rainbow Bridge, and L’Ormarins Queens Plate and Vodacom July holder Do It Again are all due to lock swords.

Adding extra spice is brilliant three-year-old Soqrat, who is a dual Grade 1 winner over this distance, and ran Do It Again close in the Queen’s Plate.

Undercover Agent did of course narrowly hold off Rainbow Bridge in the Grade 2 Drill Hall Stakes a month ago, and was a gallant fourth in the Grade 1 Tsogo Sun Sprint on Saturday despite giving away plenty of weight all round.

He seems likely to have this race as his main mission for the KZN season, as he is not a ‘July’ entry.

As such he could have the slight edge over 1600m, but Rainbow Bridge and Do It Again are going to make this an extremely hotly contested affair in their final appearance before the showpiece on July 6.

Not to mention Soqrat….
