A half-sister to dual Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle will keep buyers seated till late at Friday’s CTS Lanzerac Ready To Run Sale at Durbanville. She’s an unnamed bay by Pomodoro from Young Sensation, consigned by Far End Stud and her lot number is 146, the last two-year-old that will pass through the ring at the sale.
A daughter of a Durban July winner and a direct descendant of the great mare Ethane, she’s out of a Gr1 placed daughter of champion National Emblem, and a half-sister to 3 winners including the famous Gr1 winner.
“She is not the biggest of fillies, but she has a nice big action, she moves very well. She may take a bit of time, but she could be a classic type,” Far End’s Jane Thomas said of the filly, who was bred on the 20/20 Gr1 Goldmine Mating System used by a number of leading breeders.
Far End also has high hopes for Lot 144, a colt by Jackson who goes on sale just a few minutes before the Legal Eagle sibling.
“He’s a smart colt, a really beautiful specimen from a proper, deep female line that goes back to several successful sires,” said Thomas.
Lot 79 is another Far End “peach”. She’s by VAR from six-time winner Linda My Love (Spectrum), herself a half-sister to multiple Graded winner Gold Flier, Successful Bidder and Trust Antonia. “She’s scopy and racy,” said Thomas.
