KZN based Peter Muscutt scored his first Graded win since recently resuming his training career when Ultra Magnus scored a comfortable victory in the New Turf Carriers Merchants at Turffontein.
The Oratorio gelding was always handy as Singforafa set a decent tempo followed by Mr Flood and Bold Ransom.
Favourite Bohica was also in touch early on, but was a spent force once the race reached its business end.
It boiled down to a straight fight between Ultra Magnus and Eden Roc over the last 200m, but Donovan Dillon’s mount always looked to be going better and fought on to score by a comfortable couple of lengths in the end.
“All kudos to Peter – he’s done an outstanding job,” commented Dillon immediately post-race.
