JOCKEY Donovan Dillon has been declared as the rider for 20-1 chance Golden Ducat in Saturday’s 2020 Vodacom Durban July.
Dillon, whose one previous July mount, Ice Machine, finished seventh to Power King in the 2015 renewal, told Turf Talk this morning that he was excited to have another chance.
“Golden Ducat is a super horse, a three-year-old with a realistic chance and I am thankful to Mr Sands for the opportunity.”
Dillon, who normally rides at 56kg but wil be required to weigh out at 53kg for Golden Ducat, started an eating plan to lose 3kg, about two weeks ago. He said: “I have 1kg to go and Mr Sands was happy to confirm the ride this morning.
“I have not starved myself, I’ve lost the weight gradually, because Golden Ducat is a strong horse and I need to be strong on the day to ride him. All is well, I am feeling great and I am almost down to 53kg,” he said.
