MIKE de Kock’s suggests in his pre-race comments for this weekend’s Meydan meetings that fans can look forward to some good runs.

He saddles a pair at the Dubai track tonight and a further pair at Saturday’s non-carnival meeting and said:

“We have Fire Away in Race 6 tonight, a smart and good-looking horse that will be going to stud in South Africa. He’s done some good work and he has been showing his ability, but he is an older horse and it’s not easy to predict how he will go.

“Suyoof is in the same race. He has the ability to win this, he made a good return a fortnight ago, he’s well drawn, but he’s quite fragile, not easy to train.

“If they bring their work to the track both will be involved in the finish.

“On Saturday, Bold Rex (Race 5) comes back to the track a week after running well at Meydan. He was balked for as run and had to be held up, that probably cost him a place. It’s not ideal backing him up so quickly, but that’s the way it is, he should go well.

“Conclusion (Race 5) is new to the yard, he will need the run and 1400m is on the sharp side for him.”
