DAILY News 2000 hero Rabada (photo), trained by Brett Crawford, has been priced up 7-1 favourite in Betting World’s ante-post odds for the R2-million Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup over 2000m on Saturday 26 November.
The corporate bookmaker has made Abashiri, winner of the SA Triple Crown last season, second favourite at 10-1 with Sean Tarry-trained stable companions Liege and Samurai Blade 12-1 joint third favourite.
Liege was a close-up 10th behind Rabada in the Daily News 2000 at Greyville in June, while Samurai Blade is only a one-time winner but finished third behind Abashiri in both the SA Classic and SA Derby last season.
Quoted at 14-1 are SA Fillies Classic and SA Oaks winner Juxtapose and Betting World 1900 runner-up St Tropez, while last year’s winner Master Sabina is a 16-1 shot alongside last season’s Gold Challenge winner and Durban July runner-up Mac De Lago, July winner The Conglomerate, Ten Gun Salute and Deo Juvente.
