OWNERS Adriaan and Rika van Vuuren’s top-class filly Querari Falcon (photo) is well on her way to big things this season and trainer Mike Azzie expects that the three-year-old will be hard to beat in a Conditions Plate for Fillies and Mares over 1600m on the inside track at Turffontein, Saturday.

Fresh off her win in a similar race over the course and distance recently, Querari Falcon meets rival Negroamara on 3kg worse terms for beating her by 2.75-lengths and Azzie said: “On paper you have to respect Negroamara, but perhaps she is somewhat of a bridesmaid, and our filly is getting  better.

“I think Stanley Ferreira’s Juxtapose is a danger. She is a quality filly, had a decent prep run recently and shapes as a contender here.”

Azzie said that Querari Falcon is being prepared for the Cape Fillies Guineas and noted: “Anthony Delpech rates her among the better fillies he has ridden, including Igugu, so we have high hopes for her.”
