CHANTILLY  Racecourse, which will host the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, its undercard races and the preceding day’s races for the first time for the first time on 1 and 2 October, will likely be the venue for the 2017 renewal too. French racing officials are determined that the timetable for completing construction at Longchamp Racecourse will be too tight.

Officials with France Galop have agreed that the Arc will need to be held at an alternate venue once again, even though construction currently remains on schedule to finish on 21 September, 2017. That time frame leaves less than two weeks remaining prior to the Arc, however, and “the pressure of staging the race and welcoming 60,000 spectators to a completely untried venue has been deemed too great.”

Chantilly has not been officially announced as the 2017 host, although many in the racing industry expect it will be. France Galop officials indicated that they would wait and see how Chantilly holds up when hosting this year’s edition of the Arc before making their selection.
