THE Marcus family enjoyed a wonderful end to 2018 when Red Rascal sprinted to a 1.5-length win in a 1100m sprint at Kenilworth Saturday.

Red Rascal, trained by young Adam Marcus, is by Jay Peg out of the Centenary mare Gold And Roses which were both trained by his father, Basil Marcus, and the gelding was ridden to victory by Anton Marcus (“Uncle Ant” to Adam). Basil Marcus also shows as the breeder of Red Rascal.

“This is what dreams are made of, a magical family moment. It was only Uncle Ant’s second winner for me from a handful of rides and the first for all of us together,” enthused Adam.

“Very well done to my whole team back home who have all worked together to get Red Rascal back on his winning ways. He isn’t an easy boy to train but it all came together for us today.

“It was the last race of 2018 in the Western Cape and what a way to end a wonderful year. I pray that we can go from strength to strength in 2019 and can make many more memories like today.”
