CHAMPION mare Winx has made it 16 wins in a row, ploughing through a heavy track at Rosehill for an easy victory in the Gr1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney on Saturday.

Jockey Hugh Bowman ran Winx wide for much of the race, finally cruising to the lead at the 300m mark before powering home to win by at least six lengths over Le Romain with Chautauqua third.

This was a win for the ages as she defeated some of Australia’s best gallopers by a massive seven-and-a-quarter lengths as the big Rosehill crowd roared her home.

“She’s just so special. I’m at a loss to explain it,” Bowman said.

An emotial trainer Chris Waller said: “I didn’t expect her to win like that… she is just an amazing horse. Then to hear the crowd, it is incredible to have a horse that you’re associated with who is so well received.”
