A Silvano colt from the extended family of Horse Chestnut (Lot 162) topped the parade on the second day of the 2016 KZN Yearling Sale, staged at Sibaya for BloodStock SA.

Named “Well Connected”, he certainly is,  being a daughter of Over Bridget, herself a daughter of Oaks winner Monyela, the Champion Staying filly of her year and own sister to Emerald Casino Cup winner Iron Curtain.

Form Bloodstock paid R600,000 for this colt from Danika Stud. He will be syndicated for a racing career with Mike de Kock.

Top price on day one was R1,050-million, paid by Mario Ferreira for Graham’s Fame, a son of Philantropist, who will go into training with Louis Goosen.

Even with 41 lots passing unsold, the two-day sale turned over R21,055-million, a 5% increase, which will be most encouraging to the TBA’s Sale Manager Vesna Fineberg and her team. This was the highest turnover ever at this sale since its inception in 2003.

Highlands Farm was the top vendor, with nine lots sold at an average of R373,000, while trainer Glen Kotzen was the biggest buyer. He acquired six lots at an average of R247 509.
