TELLYTRACK presenter Deez Dyanand, a man who greets everyone with a hug, received a well-deserved KZN Racing Personality Of The Year award at the awards function, staged earlier this week.

Deez (45) has served the industry in various capacities for more than 17 years and he told Turf Talk: “I am grateful for the recognition received. I’ve had an enjoyable and interesting journey in racing.”

The awards honour the performances of KZN based and trained horses during South Africa’s Champion Season, the exception being Horse of the Season, which was open to all comers. Dual Gr1 winning sprinter Bull Valley received some compensation for his Equus Champion Sprinter near miss when his connections received this award.

The newly introduced Ride Of The Season, which was open to a public vote, went to Cape heavyweight Bernard Fayd’herbe for his memorable ride on Marinaresco in the Vodacom Durban July.
