SOUTH Africa’s reigning Champion Breeders, Klawervlei Stud, will be offering an exceptional strong draft of yearlings at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale that starts at the TBA Complex on Wednesday.

Klawervlei’s consignment includes yearlings by not only top local stallions as the deceased pair of Captain Al and Dynasty, plus Silvano, Twice Over, Trippi and Var and promising sires Captain Of All and Vercingetorix, but will also be offering a yearling by Coolmore Stud’s hugely exciting, four time G1 winning stallion Camelot.

Four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty has three lots in this draft –a filly (Lot 24) out of the regally bred G1 winning champion All Is Secret, a half-brother (Lot 64) to smart performers Eros’s Girl and Vardy, and a daughter (Lot 111) of G2 Merchants winner Jackodore.

Klawervlei’s outstanding sire Captain Al, whose progeny include nearly 100 stakes winners, has a colt (Lot 87) out of the stakes placed Var mare Garibondy, while Captain Al’s champion sprinter son Captain Of All’s two yearlings are a colt (Lot 347) bred on similar lines to stakes winners Captain In Command and Canadian Sunset, and a filly (Lot 406) whose dam is a full-sister to G2 winner Jet Explorer.

Investec Derby winner Camelot, already sire of 3 G1 winners, has a colt (Lot 222) on sale from the family of numerous group winners notably G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest winning sire Bold Edge, while multiple champion sire Silvano is represented on the sale by a filly (Lot 89) out of G2 KZN Fillies Guineas winner Gibraltar Blue. The latter’s G3 winning ¾ sister Scream Blue Murder recently made headlines when her 3yo colt Wargrave romped home by 2.5 lengths at Naas.

Trippi, yet another champion sire represented in the Klawervlei draft, has three yearlings here, including a filly (Lot 95) whose winning dam is a half-sister to four stakes horses –notably July winner and promising sire Pomodoro, and a half-sister (Lot 167) to exported Equus Champion Edict Of Nantes.

Klawervlei’s increasingly successful stallion Twice Over has six lots in this draft including a filly (Lot 68) from the family of outstanding fillies Pleascach, Spain and Shuvee, a colt (Lot 142) out of a G3 winning half-sister to champion sprinter Mythical Flight, and a filly (Lot 239) out of a stakes winning daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar.

Dual Champion Sire of 2Yos Var has two well-bred yearlings in this draft –a colt (Lot 154) out of an A.P. Indy half-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos, and a colt (Lot 475) whose dam is a half-sister to the G1 winners Captain Al and Shadow Dancing.

Emerging sire Querari has two smart sorts in Klawervlei’s draft –a full-brother (Lot 425) to G2 Merchants runner up Romi’s Boy, and the colt (Lot 531) out of the stakes placed Souk, who hails from the same female line as Northern Dancer and Danehill.

Duke Of Marmalade filly (Lot 512) out of a stakes winning daughter of Dynasty, whose relatives include none other than the legendary Sunday Silence, is yet another in this draft with plenty to recommend her!
