CHAMPION trainer elect, Justin Snaith, has only five runners across two of the four Gr1 features at today’s Tsogo Sun Sprint Festival at Scottsville, but could come away with victory in the afternoon’s main feature.
At this writing (730am) Snaith’s Kasimir is available at 11-2 second favourite on both Betting World and World Sports Betting to win the Gr1 Tsogo Sprint over 1200m, but Hollywoodbets reflects Kasimir as 9-2 favourite and shows betting activity from 12-1 since it opened a week or so ago.
Punters who like Kasimir should jump at the 11-2 on Betting World before things get going this morning, because if Hollywood is right, a considerable amount of money has come for the three-year-old by Captain Al and more may come still in the build-up to the race this afternoon.
Racing editor Andrew Harrison of Gold Circle must have noticed the betting support too and also headlined Kasimir in his Friday preview, saying, “The progressive three-year-old may just have been in need of his effort in the Byerly Turk and the stable was going through a flat patch. He is back over what looks to be his optimum trip and has a handy galloping weight.”
That just about sums it up for us, too. It’s an open race with many chances, but since the day he made a green, low-flying second on debut to Call To Account on Sun Met Day in 2017 he’s looked like a horse with a future.
Sparingly raced, we have a feeling that Kasimir’s future will unfold today.
